Stone fireplace soot removal via laser cleaning
Masonry fireplaces can effectively be cleaned with lasers. The flatter and smoother the surface, the better laser cleaning works.
-
Driveway stain, exterior brick and stone, garage doors and exterior wood cleaning and stripping
Oil stains, graffiti, paint, mould, mildew and fungus are quickly removed with our methods. Your surrounding property and assets will not be affected and cleanup is minimal. No pressure washers. No water. No chemicals.
-
Rust, oxidation and other contaminant stripping
Pots and pans can be cleaned of burnt oil. Please note that Teflon coatings and ceramic coatings will also be completely removed with laser cleaning. If rust has affected your cast iron cookware, the underlying metal will have been affected, and the laser cleaning process only removes surface contaminants. Polishing will be required once your pots and pans are cleaned.
-
Home smoke and soot removal
We can strip smoke and soot off of hard surfaces such as drywall, woodwork, furniture and appliances through laser ablation. The lasers do not work well on fabric and soft surfaces, but can be calibrated to carefully remove smoke and soot from paper and cardboard.
-
BBQ Surface Rust, Oil and Grease Removal
Heavy rust can not be removed, but surface rust, oil and grease can be cleaned off of your BBQ and outdoor kitchen. Laser cleaning works very well on stainless steel and aluminum.
-
Auto, motorcyle and boat rust and finish removal
We do in-house calls to strip rust, oil, grime and paint from classic cars, trucks, motorcycles or boats. Wheels, engine components, frames and body panels can be stripped bare in preparation for paint and machining. This is an alternative to hot tanks, glass, bead and sand blasting.
FAQs
What exactly do you do?
Rapidfire Laser Restorations is in the business of surface cleaning. Our main objective is to strip, clean and renew buildings, furniture, vehicles, machinery and a variety of objects with lasers. We generally do not make contact with the substrate to be cleaned. In other words, it is a touch-free way of cleaning. No chemicals. No sandblasters. No pressure washers.
How big are these lasers and how does it work?
We use a 1000 Watt pulse laser cleaner. It’s about the size of a washing machine. It emits a powerful beam of light, focused on the work to be cleaned. A handheld gun is pointed at the work, the trigger pulled, and beam will gently strip away impurities and surface coatings such as paint, grease, varnish, dirt and corrosion.
The laser’s settings are configured and controlled via touch screen computer. The process is quite impressive and always draws a crowd. Training is required to use the laser correctly.
Is there dust or smoke?
Yes, and we mitigate dust and smoke with a variety of air scrubbers, dust containment systems and fans. We are very attentive to client needs and take great care in protecting your property and everyone’s health and safety.
How did you get in to this trade?
Alex Fournier has been working (playing) with tools, vehicles, wood, metal and stone since he was a child. He earned a diploma in mechanical engineering technology in 2002. He’s worked in a variety of industries as a CNC machinist, a millwright, a mechanic, an interior home finisher and carpenter. Alex started a carpentry and wood refinishing business in 2010. By 2024 it was clear there was a great demand for laser cleaning. Rapidfire Laser Restorations was founded.
How much does it cost?
An hourly rate is billed depending on required tools for the job. We do give flat-rate quotes on larger projects after samples have been assessed.
Does the laser damage anything?
It can, if not set up correctly. This is why we consult with clients about their needs, and have sample sessions.
Can I see a demonstration?
Videos of our work can be accessed on Youtube and Instagram. We ask that people not enter our work area without proper training and safety glasses.
